Crimson

Constructing a more sensual shot while only showing a model's face can be an interesting challenge. For one, it meant that my favourite perfect head-on or side profile shot might be impossible because she would intuitively want to tilt her head and body.

For this shot to succeed, I decided to try to soften the visuals apart from her face. We applied white foundation powder on top of the neck tattoo to make it less prominent and to draw your eye to her face. It effectively removes focus without using a lens blur.

The red tear drops were a stroke of pure luck, I was hesitant to add more facial markings since for a sensual shot your eye should be drawn to her expression. The vertical streaks ended up just perfect and added even more to the sensuality of the image.

We were rewarded even more when I was suggested to look into Berlin Iron earrings. These two are lacquered black and nearly 200 years old. They complemented the crimson red tear drops and the neck tattoos perfectly. One learns something new every day.
